Eagle is the city located in Ada County Idaho about 10 miles west of downtown Boise on the north side of the Treasure Valley. History of Eagle

When gold was found in the Boise Basin in 1862, people began to flock there to try their luck. Meanwhile, a brave man named Truman C. Catlin believed that the prospectors and inhabitants required food. C. Catlin prepared 160 acres of land along the Boise River for irrigation in 1863 to counteract the issue. Eagle Island was called from the abundance of bald eagles in the area. Catlin and his neighbor began building irrigation canals in the region to water the entire farm. The effort paid off since it watered most of the valley's soil, and most of these ditches can still be seen today.

Thomas Aikens purchased the land on the north and south sides of the Boise River in 1877. He also acquired ownership of the Valley Road between Eagle and Boise. The Valley Road (today's state highway 44) served as the primary connecting road between Boise and the communities to the west. Aikens wanted to build a bridge across the Boise River to connect his lands on the north and south sides, but the town of Star was the biggest impediment to his plans. The County Commission conducted a vote to allow the public to decide. Aikens won the election for his wizard planning. Following the completion of the bridge, a new school, a grocery shop, and Old Fellow Hall were built. Aikens sold fifteen acres for the town's development in 1904. Soon after, the town was officially given the name Eagle.

With a fast-paced progression, the town became a popular suburban community. In 1971, the Ada County Commission declared Eagle as a new city. After a decade in 1982, Eagle Island Prison Farm was transformed into Eagle Island State Park which is now a popular recreational hub. During the last decade of the 20th century, the population growth rate increased to 233.2%. Today Eagle is one of the most desired places with awesomely designed houses.

East Eagle

This section features established communities. If you want to live away from the traffic hustle, then east Eagle is an ideal choice. The houses prices range from $500,000 to $1,500,000 that are a bit more affordable. Most of the homes in east Eagle were built in the late 90s to 2012.

East Eagle has homes backing to streams and are surrounded by mature trees, walking paths, and with Eagle Bike Park just nearby. The park has a BMX track, RC track, basketball courts, and a dog park. East Eagle is the calmest side of Eagle away from the agitation of town’s hustle.

To begin with a fresh morning, you can head toward foothill and greenbelt trails that are close to the area. Besides this, east Eagle is highly convenient because of its proximity to downtown Boise (20 mins) and has Eagle Hills Golf Course just nearby. There are also a few of the elementary schools within walking distance.

Central Eagle

With a variety of housing options, this area of Eagle is the most walkable in the Treasure Valley. This charming community offers all the amenities within walking distance. You don't have to go the extra mile to complete your daily chores. It has a post office, a library, doctors, dentists, shops, and exquisite restaurants.

Most of the houses were built in the early 1970s and 1980s and vary in price from $450,000 to $650,000. It also has townhouses, condominiums, and patio homes that are reasonably priced in comparison to the nearby towns. Eagle Arts Elementary School is a short walk away making it handy for your kids.

North Eagle

This acreage area near to foothills has the houses pricing range of $950,000 to $3 million. Most of the houses were built back from the 70s to today. Some of the homes are situated between hills and are isolated from the traffic fuss. It has lots from 1-10 acres, foothills lots dry, and lower areas irrigated. The hills don’t have enough trees but are covered by sage and grass.

Some of the areas in north Eagle have direct access to BLM recreation land. There are roads along the foothills for road biking. There is no shopping center and school within walking distance. There is a relatively low traffic rate around this area as it is substantially secluded.

West Eagle

It has mostly new construction, built from 2016 to today. The area is close to Eagle Island State Park but has no trail access. It’s the point of Eagle’s growth. It’s highly proximate to the new Costco within a 15 mins short drive.

The traffic gets congested as you go west. Galileo STEM school and NorthStar charter are a short walk away. This side of Eagle Idaho is farthest from downtown Boise about 35 mins away.
